Planning a Honeymoon Trip to the Cayman Islands

I am getting married next week, and after that my new husband and I will be spending 5 days in the Cayman Islands. I’m very excited for this trip. I’ve never been to the Cayman Islands before; in fact, I’ve never been anywhere in the Caribbean before.

We had to save up for a long time to afford our Cayman Islands trip. We were able to get some great deals on airfare and lodging by planning ahead, though. It helps to know a few months ahead when and where you want to travel.

I’m really looking forward to seeing some of the exotic wildlife that lives on the islands. We are planning to take a full day on Little Cayman, which has most of the interesting animals and birds. Apparently some of them are even endangered.

I’m also interested in getting to swim and snorkel in the ocean there. There are so many different tropical fish I wouldn’t get to see anywhere else. We are planning to take a charter boat cruise out for snorkeling. It’s not cheap to go on a charter but I’m sure it will be worth it.

I’m looking forward to swimming in such clear blue water and getting to tan on the large beaches. Hopefully the beach won’t be too crowded the whole time we’re there, and we can find a good place to be together on the shore.

Of course, when planning a honeymoon you have to worry about the quality of the hotel room, too! We are spending about $250 a night in order to get a nice four-star room. Apparently we got a pretty good deal on that, since I’ve seen similar rooms going for $500 to $600.

I also want to take a little time to check out the shopping at Camana Bay. I’m sure my husband is worried already about how much this trip is going to cost us, but you can’t have a good vacation without some meaningful souvenirs. Most people only get one honeymoon, and you definitely need something to remember it by. Plus I want to buy gifts for the friends and family who came to the wedding.

I can’t believe it’s almost time for my trip! We’ve been planning it for so long I thought this time would never come. I’m not sure if I’m more excited about the wedding or the honeymoon.
